Extending Outreach through Budding Idea Grants
A program called “Budding Idea Grants” (BIGs) launched at the end of 2020 to help fund community outreach initiatives—endeavors that take place beyond the church’s facility, and that are consistent with the mission and values of Incarnation Lutheran Church. A portion of Endowment Fund earnings are being devoted to this program each year.
A lack of funds is often what prevents a good idea from becoming reality. You may have such an idea. Or you may know of someone who does—be it an adult, youth, or nonprofit organization. With this grants program, it’s possible for budding ideas to become reality.
BIGs serve as “seed money” to help bring ideas and dreams to fruition. Diverse initiatives have been funded during the program’s first two years, including: adding a faith-based component to a course that helps participants increase positive emotions and achieve greater resilience; the launch of a youth horse camp that uses equine-assisted therapy techniques to help develop character and leadership skills in youth; an expanded pay-as-you-go neighborhood food truck lunch program in St. Paul; and support for a 2022 pilot community program in Roseville called “Festival For Change: Celebrating Cultural Wealth and Togetherness.”
Details on eligibility and how to apply can be found in the brochure below, available in two formats—one to read online, or the other to download and print. If you have questions, send an email to grants@incarnationmn.org and a member of the Endowment Fund Committee will respond.
