Shobi’s Table

Shobi’s Table , a pay-as-you-can food cafe and ministry of the St Paul Area Synod, prepares fresh, from-scratch, delicious and nutritious midday meals and typically serves at three St Paul locations each week. Under the direction of Shobi’s Table staff, meals are prepared and served each week by volunteers.

Serving with Shobi’s Table

In this time when COVID-19 safety protocols continue to be needed, every potential volunteer is asked to consider his/her own health as well as those at their homes before volunteering.  If you have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 or any other infectious disease, are immuno-compromised, or have a higher chance of contracting the illness and have not been vaccinated, please stay home.

Kitchen Volunteers and Training

  • Kitchen Volunteers may serve any weekday Monday through Friday and at various shift times, to work on prep
    tasks, dishes, and
getting meals ready to serve on the truck.  If you have already received training to be a kitchen volunteer, sign up for Kitchen Volunteer shifts here.
  • Kitchen Volunteer Training: All kitchen and dish team volunteers are required to receive training in the Shobi’s Table commercial kitchen space prior to volunteering. Training is currently scheduled on Mondays or Tuesdays at Christ on Capitol Hill. Sign up for Kitchen Volunteer Training by contacting kitchen manager. All volunteers are asked to bring their own protective masks and will be required to wear them at all times. Shobi’s Table will provide gloves.
  • Youth 12 – 18 years old are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (one adult chaperone is sufficient for two youth, where the adult is counted as a volunteer.)
