2009 Summer Camps for Kids

Whatever your passion--music, art, sports--there's a place for you at Incarnation this summer!  Here is the lineup:
Please read the camp descriptions carefully. Dates, ages, prices, and registration deadlines vary for each camp.  Friends are welcome at Incarnation Camps, so reach out to a friend or neighbor.

You may register for any of the camps and Vacation Bible School online or by picking up the "2009 Summer Camps for Kids" booklet at Incarnation and using the tear off forms. Please note--registration deadlines are firm.  Registration fees are not refundable. Scholarships are available, contact Julie Tollander for more information.

The key to successful programs is LOTS of help. People (moms, dads, grandparents, and teenagers) are the backbone of our summer camps.  How do I help?

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
We've got the solution to summertime boredom. Crocodile Dock!!  Get ready for a rockin' time . . . at Crocodile Dock where kids learn to watch for God in everyday life through God Sightings.

In 'Bayou Crews' (small groups) kids will sing catchy songs, enjoy tasty snacks at the Snack Shack, hear Bible stories at Bible Bayou, make crazy creations, race around at Gator Games and meet Chadder Chipmunk on DVD.

Theater Camp:  July 20 - 23

Do you like to fly through your house as a superhero? Do you like to pretend you're a princess and your parents are your royal subjects? God has given each of us the powerful gift of imagination. Explore that gift this summer through the wonder of theater!

Students will experience a week of exciting high-paced fun and drama during Theater Camp. Instructors will focus on the daily development of each child's strength as a part of an ensemble rather than on performance skills. Parents/guardians are invited to observe the last 15 minutes of each class.

When: Monday, July 20 - Thursday, July 23; 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Open to children entering kindergarten in 2009 or 2010 through children entering 6th grade in 2009
Cost: $50 per child, includes a daily snack
Space is limited. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Final registration for Theater Camp is past.

These opportunities are past for this summer, but watch for them next year:

Art Camp
"Believe it or not, I can actually draw." --Jean Michael Basquiat
How will you know you can't draw if you don't try it? Art is the greatest form of self expression. There is not a right or wrong way to sculpt something, weave something, or paint something. It's up to you--the sky is the limit!

Preschool & Kindergartners
Each day will feature two age-appropriate art projects using a variety of mediums. In addition, children will have free play time.

1st - 6th Graders  Each day a different art form will be featured, which may include watercolor, ceramics, weaving, bookmaking, puppet making and drawing.

When: Monday, June 15 - Friday, June 19 2009; 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Open to children entering kindergarten in 2009 or 2010 through children entering 6th grade in 2009
Cost: $60 per child, includes all materials and a daily snack.
Space is limited. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Final registration deadline for Art Camp is past.

Music Camp
God has graciously blessed us with many creative talents. Among these is music and all the ways to express it. We know that music is a form of praise and worship. We know that music is a form of prayer. Music Camp provides opportunities to experience music and movement in fun and exciting ways! Music Camp concludes on Thursday, June 25 with a 7:00 p.m. performance.

Preschool & Kindergartners
A "mini" music camp is open to children age 3 to beginning kindergarten in 2009 and includes music activities and movement. Children must be accompanied by a parent or designated adult. Nursery will be provided for younger siblings.
When: Monday, June 22 - Thursday, June 25; 9:15 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
If there is sufficient interest, a second class may be formed from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Cost: $20 per child
Final registration deadline for Music Camp is past.

1st - 9th Graders
Children entering 1st through 9th grade in 2009 will prepare, stage, and perform a musical. Children will participate in a variety of activities, including rehearsal, construction of scenery and props, musical activities, instruments and choreography, Bible study, snacks, and recreation. Campers should bring their own sack lunch each day.
When: Sunday, June 21 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and Monday, June 22 - Thursday, June 25; 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Cost: $75 per child, includes materials, snacks, and a t-shirt.
Final registration deadline for Music Camp is past.

We Need Your Help!!
The key to successful programs is LOTS of help. People (moms, dads, grandparents, and teenagers) are the backbone of Incarnation's summer camps. All that's required is a love for children!

Help is needed for Vacation Bible School, Music Camp, and Theater Camp. Please look at those camps' registration forms to see what kind of help is needed. You will be contacted with more information for the area in which you expressed interest. All volunteers will be provided with a complete description of their responsibilities, training, and all the needed materials.

In an effort to ensure a safe environment for all children and youth, the Incarnation Congregation Council adopted a
Policy for Protecting Children and Youth in July 2004. This policy requires that anyone working with children and youth must complete a background check. Those working directly with children (i.e. a classroom setting) must be a member of Incarnation for at least six months.

If you have questions or would like more information on Summer Camps and Vacation Bible School, contact Julie Tollander, Director of LOGOS and Summer Camps at jtollander@incarnationmn.org or by calling 651-484-7213.
