PRAYER is
an expression of our relationship with God and is woven into the fabric
of life at Incarnation. We pray individually and together as a faith
community, interacting with God as partners in ministry, and seeking
Gods heart and will.
Because
prayer is such an essential part of how we connect with God and grow in
faith, Prayer Ministry at Incarnation is designed to help individuals
and the faith community as a whole.

Wednesday Morning Pray-ers Each
Wednesday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., a small group of individuals
gathers to pray for the public prayer concerns list, for different
ministries of this church, and for other private concerns that are
raised. Anyone is welcome to join in this time of prayer. The only
expectation is that if you participate you honor the confidentiality of
the private prayers.
Public Prayer Concerns List One
of the easiest ways to support one another is by praying for the
individuals listed on the Prayer Concerns list in the bulletin each
week. To add your name or the name of a loved one to that public prayer
list, simply contact the Incarnation Office at 651-484-7213 or email Joan Volkmann.
Individuals will remain on the public prayer concerns list for three
week and then will come off. To keep the person on the list longer,
simply contact the Incarnation Office again with that request.
The
person to be listed must be asked and give permission for their name to
be included in the public prayer concerns list. This is to protect
their privacy and respect their wishes. Members/Active Participants
are listed by name, family members who are not members are listed by
the relationship (i.e. John Smith's sister), and friends are listed by
first name (i.e. Jane Doe's friend Sally).
The Public Prayer
Concerns list is published in the bulletin each week and in the Weekly
(Yellow) Announcement sheet. If you were not in worship or did not
receive an announcement sheet, visit the Publications page to download it.
Non-Published Prayer Concerns List If
you or someone you know would like to be prayed for but not be included
in the public prayer concerns list, you/they can be added to the
Non-Published Prayer Concerns List which is prayed for each week by the
Staff and Prayer Leaders and prayed for monthly by the Incarnation
Congregation Council. These requests do remain confidential. Like the
published prayer list, it is important to have permission from anyone
being added to this list.
Prayer Leaders The
Prayer Leaders are a group of individuals who have been trained to pray
for the concerns of others. They are available in the Chapel on the
first Sunday of each month and also meet to pray the last Tuesday of
each month. If you are interested in joining the Prayer Leaders or if
you desire prayers for healing or special prayers at times other than
the first Sunday of the month, contact Pastor Jeanne Markquart. Small Groups on Prayer From time to time new small groups will form with an emphasis on prayer. For current opportunities, visit the Small Group Ministry page.
Fall Prayer Event / Lenten Day of Prayer / Summer Prayer Event Three times a year, in November, during Lent, and in the summer, the Incarnation community comes
together in prayer in an intentional way. Individuals and families are
asked to sign up for a 30-minute time slot at some point during that
day. For both events, a prayer guide is provided to comfort and
encourage you through your prayer time.
The
fall prayer event, Seeking Gods Heart and Will, is a time dedicated to
praying for all members and active participants by name and also
praying for the mission and different ministries of Incarnation.
During
the Lenten Day of Prayer, the focus is both inward as we reflect on our
individual needs and relationship with God and outward as we pray for
the larger community, our mission partners, and for peace and justice
throughout the world.
The focus of the Summer Day of Prayer is Praise & Gratitude as praise God for the abundance of gifts and mercy that come from God. There will also be a special focus and a special space for people to pray together in groups of two or more.
Special Prayer Services The second Sunday of December Incarnation offers a prayer service for people
who have experienced loss or are experiencing difficulties in their
lives. Blue Christmas: A Candlelight Prayer Service acknowledges that
things are not always merry and festive during the Christmas season and
centers our hope and comfort in Jesus Christ.
In
the spring on Palm/Passion Sunday, there is a special Service of Prayer
and Healing. Both are at 7 p.m. in the Incarnation Chapel.
Service
of Prayer & Healing As
we move from Lent into Holy Week, we will gather to worship in a
healing service on Sunday, April 5th at 7 p.m. in the Incarnation
Chapel. We will bring our desire for healing--for ourselves or for
others--to the Living God who is our hope and promise. The healing
service will include scripture, anointing with oil and a blessing, and
the opportunity to be prayed for by one of the Incarnation Prayer
Leaders. Come for yourself or bring someone you care about who could
benefit from prayers of healing.
When:
Sunday, March 28; 7 p.m. Where: Incarnation Chapel
Stations
of the Cross The
Stations of the Cross have long been a spiritual practice of reflection
on the journey of Christ to the cross. During the entire season of
Lent, the scriptural Stations of the Cross will be installed in the
Chapel. To walk the Stations of the Cross, simply start at the
beginning, move at your own pace, and listen to the nudging of the Holy
Spirit as you move from station to station. Brochures are available for
you to take home and follow the stations in your personal prayer time.
When: Now through Easter Sunday, April 4
Where: Incarnation Chapel With few
exceptions, the Chapel and the Stations of the Cross are available to
you anytime that the building is open. The Chapel The
Incarnation Chapel is located on the west end of the building near the
Sanctuary. This chapel is now a dedicated space and is available to you
for personal prayer.
As you enter the chapel, to your left you
will find a table with resources that are available for you to use
during your prayer time or to take home with you. While in the chapel,
feel free to turn on the lights, light candles on the altar or in the
sand cross on the floor, or wrap yourself in one of the prayer shawls
that were knit by others here at Incarnation.
Meditative Prayer Displays At
certain times of the year, you will find visual prayer displays
installed in the chapel that are designed to draw you into prayer and
reflection. Along with the visual display, you will find printed
materials for your use at home.
The Stations of the Cross is one of these displays and is available from Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday.
If
you have questions about Prayer Ministry or would like to participate
in any opportunities, please contact Pastor Jeanne Markquart by email or by calling 651-484-7213.
