LOGOS after-school program Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises. --Psalm 98.4
The purpose of the LOGOS program is to give participants a chance to experience the joy of Christian relationships as they play, study, learn, and eat together. School teaches young people how to make a living. LOGOS teaches young people how to live a meaningful life.
LOGOS is an exciting, proven program that brings children and adults together in a fun-filled, camp-like atmosphere. A program such as LOGOS gives children experiences that will deepen their understanding of God's love through meaningful relationships and activities. With adults and other participants, children can experience the grace and power of a church community. It will strengthen them as children of God and help them see the joy of faith. Kids are grouped together by age for the Bible Study portion of LOGOS. The rest of the program is multi-aged. This way the older kids can get satisfaction from helping the younger ones, and the younger kids look up to the older kids.

The Four Components of LOGOS
LOGOS includes the kinds of activities, which are central to a successful summer camp program. This weekly retreat experience includes four parts:
Recreation/Crafts The goal is to have fun at the expense of no one. A wide variety of games, hobbies, crafts, and special interests are offered.
Bible Study The goal is to nurture children into intelligent and biblically informed discipleship. Bible Study is considered the heart of the LOGOS program because the study of scripture informs and directs how we live our lives as part of a Christian community.
Worship Skills The goal is for children to develop responsibility for and practice in worship skills because worship is our primary service to God. A variety of options will be offered: vocal choir, bell choir, puppets, drama, etc.
Family Time The goal is for children to eat together as they build Christian relationships with each other and caring adults. Each night offers a different theme, which will be carried out through the activities, menu, prayer, etc.
At Incarnation, here is what a typical LOGOS afternoon looks like:
4:15-4:30 Snack time 4:30-5:00 Recreation/Crafts 5:05-5:35 Worship Skills/Bible Study 5:40-6:10 Bible Study/Worship Skills 6:15-7:00 Meal
Parental participation is the key element to the success of the LOGOS program. At the parent information meeting each fall, parents can complete the registration form, pay fees, and sign up to help.
Why is Incarnation involved in an after-school program for children?
Incarnation is committed to providing an opportunity to children, youth, and adults to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Its more important than anything else in life!
Growing up in todays world is tough. Children and youth must be able to face this challenge and live with purpose, hope, faith, and joy. It is the passionate conviction of the LOGOS program that these qualities of life are uniquely found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
The LOGOS program connects with the developmental assets identified by the Search Institute of Minneapolis. This study of 47,000 young people demonstrated that 30 factors, or developmental assets, were powerful influences in the lives of youth. By involving adults and young people together, the structure of LOGOS provides an opportunity for quality relationships to be formed.
LOGOS grows out of Incarnations desire to do more to nurture childrens faith development. LOGOS fulfills each component of Incarnations mission statement: connect, grow, service, and invited. Children connect more deeply with God and one another; grow in the gracious gift of abundant and eternal life in Christ; serve God and all people in the model of Jesus Christ; and invite all people to faith and community in Christ.
