Families Moving Forward(FMF) is a grassroots interfaith social service organization that provides emergency shelter to homeless families and affordable housing to formerly homeless families. The goal of Families Moving Forward is to “help the families in the shelter and housing programs find and keep stable housing. The motivation behind these efforts is the desire to strengthen all of the families we serve so that they can move forward toward self-sufficiency.”
Incarnation partners with Families Moving Forward under the Families in Transition umbrella. One of the main ways that Incarnation works with FMF is by being in the network of local congregations that hosts families for 2 weeks to provide overnight shelter. Everything each family needs for the week is provided by volunteers from Incarnation, including food, beds, and fellowship.
Incarnation hosted four families the week of May 16 - 23, 2010. Thank you to all the volunteers and people who donated to this ministry for making this event a success!
Throughout the year, there are other ways that people at Incarnation can help FMF by: • supporting the financial appeals at the time of hosting • donating items like paper products, laundry supplies, and toiletries • volunteering either during Incarnation’s hosting week or at the FMF shelter in N. Minneapolis
